5 Senses 2 Feet

I’ve always been encouraged,
DANCE!
Why? And for who? Is there anything to dance for?
I heard the magpies singing, early AM hours; it must be spring again.
DANCE!
I saw the sunlight spill in from my window this morning; it coated the wooden table. I ate the red Gala apple.
I asked you, dance for who?
DANCE!
I taste eternity; I miss how I saw the world at 14. I think about living versus being alive, which one am I?
I butter my multigrain toast. I spread my ambitions and dreams.
DANCE!
I felt mum’s footsteps through the floorboards; what’s on for her 5-to-9 after her 9-to- 5?
Did she buy chocolate? Did she have enough money for that?
DANCE!
For God’s sake, why? And for who?
I smelt the gum trees; they left constellations of sunbeams twirling on the concrete.
I watched.
And watched.
And they whispered, dance. for you.
